At the moment, attention can be focused firmly on the recently released Galaxy S6 edge +, but it is important to remember that there is a smaller alternative for smartphone buyers who take advantage of Samsung’s option board display technology. The Galaxy S6 Edge, which was equipped with the Galaxy S6 earlier this year, is the second smartphone to be premiered by the Edge display technology in the Samsung Galaxy Note Note phablet.

How big is the influence that a small change can have? The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge only has additional screen curves compared to the Galaxy S6, but these two phones could not be more different: it’s a difference that you can easily feel when you’re holding in your hand. The two Galaxy S6 phones share the best components available and are equipped with software based on a new philosophy to suit the new hardware ideology. Here is the summary of the main specifications and disadvantages and … please excuse the feeling of déjà vu.
Samsung Galaxy has developed a new series, the Serie A (or Alpha), to practice making the matching metal-based phones, then back to the drawing board and the new design language of the Galaxy S6 family. The combination of double-glazed metal structure (front and back) is definitely not the final design solution, but it works well and is the first for Samsung smartphones.
And although this is his first design attempt, the Galaxy S6 pushed the limits of the shaver – perhaps lacking novelty, but notable for its implementation. The Galaxy S6 Edge, however, brings it even further for those who want something special. It comes with a new factor and has a higher legitimate price than the normal Galaxy S6.
I’m glad that Edge Note’s sidebar was hidden in sight this time, because it turned out I was uncomfortable with it and did not really add much to the overall benefit of the phone. However, this does not mean that Samsung has abandoned its Edge screen features, as these are now activated by simple touch gestures so that they do not interfere with daily use.
For example, instead of the sidebar, Edge S6 now has a small translucent tab at the top of the screen that you can swipe to access your five favorite contacts. From there you can call, send a text message or send an e-mail. It is a useful feature and works incredibly well when you have both hands free.
However, try to make it a bit more complicated as the slight curve angle will cause you to jump to the next screen to start or inadvertently open the Weather widget before you open the tab. However, with a little practice it has become much easier to open a single shot and is much faster than having to plunge into my contacts or email application every time you want to contact someone.
I also like that I can colorize these contacts because the phone flashes in that particular color when those contacts try to call it. However, this only works if the phone is hidden on the table, which is especially convenient, no matter how much you trust the screen of Gorilla Glass. It’s always something I hate on such an expensive phone, and the effect is not so pronounced. For example, if you had your phone in silent mode, you would miss it completely if you had no line of sight to the phone.
With identical components and capabilities, it should come as no surprise that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge works just as well as the Galaxy S6. In the benchmark tests, which are in the range of the normal fluctuations from maturity to maturity, we find subtle deviations. SunSpider, for example, gave 352.3ms and 353.7ms points for curved or flat phones, while the results were Browsermark 2546 points and 2663 points, respectively.
The Galaxy S6 AnTuTu record of 67,975 points was short-lived, with the Galaxy Edge S6 beating it with a slight score of 68433. Both received exactly the 39fps score in GFXbench, but the Galaxy S6 had a slight advantage in the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited, with 21878 points against 20306 points for the Galaxy S6 Edge
Samsung has installed a 2600 mAh battery in the S6 Edge, which is slightly smaller than the 2800 mAh battery in the S5. While some certainly mourn the loss of a replaceable battery, I prefer the best design and curved screen to stand for a helmet with a removable plastic back panel. As a reward, the S6 Edge supports wireless charging with support for WPC (Qi) and PMA (Powermat) standards. There’s also the usual microUSB port on the bottom of the phone and a quick charge option, meaning that 10 minutes of charging time will take four hours.
It’s true that we were expecting its 14nm processor and a more efficient operating system would help balance its smaller battery, but it does not seem to be over at 5.30pm on the S5 battery. In our continuous video playback test, for example, it only reached 15h 33m with a brightness of 170cd / m2. However, it is a very good result and surpasses the HTC One M9 in almost 7 hours.
It should be noted that there is no slot for microSD cards in the Galaxy S6 Edge. Therefore, you must rely on the internal memory of the phone to store all your files. However, unlike the S6 plan, Samsung is launching a 32GB version of the S6 Edge, but offers the choice between 64GB and 128GB models. So you should not have any space problems. In addition, Samsung promises that its flash memory USF 2.0 is 30 percent faster than its older phones, applications and the TouchWiz user interface should respond faster and start.
The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is pretty much the same as in the Galaxy S6 model, borrowing the Sony IMX240 16MP sensor with the Galaxy Note 4, but behind a lens with a larger f / 1 aperture, 9. This allows for more light and produces much better bokeh effects. The camera software is also very demanding.
One of our favorite features is Quick Launch: double-tap the Home button anywhere on the UI, and the camera will appear in less than a second. If you do not like it, you can disable it from the configuration.
The user interface is quite simple, most configurations are available in the viewer. The selection changes when you switch between different recording modes. You can download new recording modes from the Galaxy App Store: At the time of review, the new modes Sport, Sound and Shooting, Selfie Reverse Camera and Facial Beauty are available.
With Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung delivered a state-of-the-art device for first-time users, which was supposed to be a prototype that became a retail product. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is on a similar path, though this time its mass market fate is no doubt.
Whether one wants to believe the rumored production figures, the company is planning, for example in the ratio 3: 1, the number of aircraft for sale and curves. The first to adopt it should be happy: If you want something that no one else has, the Galaxy S6 Edge will gladly fulfill.
The Galaxy Note Edge is coming, although asymmetry and beauty are not always mixed: a curve on both sides is definitely better. Aside from the night clock, the extra features of the software in the curve of the Galaxy S6 are a mix of peripherals, on the limit, but maybe third-party developers are creating new ideas.
In all other aspects, the edge of the Galaxy S6 was as good as its usual brother. It has some unique features such as the unique 14nm chipset in mass production, which provides high performance and good battery life. It’s a smaller battery and a sharper and brighter screen, one of the best in its class.
